Profile

Hywel Griffiths graduated in law from Pembroke College, Oxford and was admitted as a Solicitor in 1981.  He spent his early years as a litigator with Cardiff with Leo Abse & Cohen and Adams & Black and moved to Cambridge in 1988.

Between 1988 and 2004 Hywel headed the Litigation Department at Few & Kester and ran a mixed workload of employment, personal injury, property and commercial litigation.  When the firm merged to become Kester Cunningham John in 2004 Hywel became Head of the Employment Team and concentrated on this type of work.

Hywel trained as a mediator with the ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) Group in 1995 and qualified as a mediator in 1996.  Since that date Hywel has undertaken mediations both on behalf of the ADR Group and within the Central London County Court Mediation Pilot Scheme.  The range of topics and cases in which Hywel has mediated including the following:-

  • Commercial landlord and tenant
  • Employment
  • Contentious probate
  • False arrest and wrongful imprisonment
